About Women in Finance Group

The Women in Finance Group was set up in 2021 to bring like-minded women together to connect, collaborate and be part of the wider female community. We provide a home and connectivity platform for women to discuss their own experiences of working in finance, to network with each other, build business relationships, enhance career prospects, and convince a new, upcoming generation that there is no limit to their success.

Our mission

Our mission is to foster collaboration and build a strong business community of like-minded, mid to senior level women through networking and content-driven events. We aim to build a community of women across the world who thrive in careers in finance. We want to be part of a change that leads to women feeling empowered and in-charge of their careers across the industry.

Research shows that one reason women are under-represented in senior positions is that they do not see other women in senior positions. There is a lack of female role models in the industry and with this initiative we want to fix that.

The Women in Finance Group network celebrates the successful women in our industry and holds them up as beacons for us all to follow.

Our story

The Women in Finance Group was created in December 2021. We know that for many women, networking is harder as compared to their male counterparts. For those with families, it can become increasingly challenging. We help women meet each other both for focused content sessions and informally over sports events.

Since our launch, we have focused on bridging one of the main gaps that women face when networking; engaging in conversations about sports. The myth that only men are qualified to talk about sport is one that we are keen to dispel. Events now occur quarterly that give women the chance to play sports at iconic locations such as Lord’s Cricket Ground, with the goal of breaking down some of the barriers women have in their workplace.

Our community now spans London and New York. Since our founding, we have organised networking, sports and speaker events, launched our podcast series and established our newsletter.

What we do

Our purpose is to support mid-to-senior-level women through two key pillars: personal and professional development. Under the personal development pillar, we focus on financial independence through investing and securing financial futures, sports-based networking events, and building on essential skills such as negotiation, leadership, and public speaking. Under the professional development pillar, we cover career enhancement sessions on topics including artificial intelligence, macroeconomics, fundraising, portfolio management, and impact & ESG topics. These two pillars are incorporated into our event series, where we welcome our members to join us for informative sessions. While our focus is on championing women, men are welcome to attend our social events and conference side events, which we host a few times a year. We are proud to work with male executives who continue to support us through sponsorship opportunities.
